Justin and RJ

We got two good news so far we know of,

Justin would possibly to be home either on Dec 11th, 20th or a week later after Jan 6th..it all depend on what happening there. It seem a good news that things are all handling ok thur the Army..sadly he would be out but want to thanks him for doing all his best he could since he joined.

RJ will be in Kuwait appox on the 28th from Iraq. After leaving Kuwait sometime after 28th..he should be heading home to Lousiana. He have worked hard and going thur a hard way and this is his job duties. Want to thank him for all the things he have done.

Again wishes both boys to be home safe and be with the family.

Iraq Weather Season!

(Aunt) Janine have send me the information that she have looked up about the Iraq weather so here is the information that she send me...

The Iraq climate is similar to that of the extreme southwestern United States with hot, dry summers, cold winters, and a pleasant spring and fall. Roughly 90% of the annual rainfall occurs between November and April, most of it in the winter months from December through March. The remaining six months, particularly the hottest ones of June, July, and August, at approximately 102° F (32° C), are dry. The influence of the Persian Gulf on the climate of Iraq is very limited. Near the gulf the relative humidity is higher than in other parts of the country.

Sunday, November 30, 2008

I got a call today that Rj will FOR SURE be leaving Iraq on the 26th of December. He should arrive home on the 27th-28thish. Only a little late for christmas but all is well.

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

Rjs address is no longer posted on the blog. Apperently thats so breach of securtity somewhere. So for anyother deployment the address can not be posted up here either.

Also, no more packages, please! We were told not to send anymore packages because *if* they do come home early they possibly could not make it to them. Sorry, send the goodies to Justin.

PS Justin:

Don't worry there's a letter in the mail to you too. Can you recieve packages? I know that you could at one point but I am not sure about now. I'll mail you a package if you can recieve one.

I can't wait until you come home!!!!!

PS- I can't call long distance so call me either today or tomorrow.

Love, Hope

Absolutely nothing to do with military....but I don't care

This is the easiest place for me to post this:

Attention Kurt, Josh, Lea, Emily, Rj and Justin: (everyone else can ignore this)

I finally got around to drawing names for Christmas:

Kurt - Emily
Hope - Josh
Josh - RJ
Lea - Kurt
Justin - Lea
RJ - Hope (I swear this is like the third year that you've had my name....just meant to be I suppose. Or maybe it's because you give good gifts and I rig it up so you always have me :D )
Emily - Justin

So we have several things we can do here.

1- Typical $15 limit gift exchange
2- "Go Green" and limit ourselves to $5.00 Gift has to be found, made or purchased second hand
3- Game - in which case we'll ignore the list and play the white elephant game. One at a time drawn out of hat, grab a gift and open it. The next person and choose that gift or pick from the middle. It's a wicked game of theft and fun.
4- we ditch the list and everyone just buys one present and gives it to the favorite *oldest* sister.... oh wait that would be ME. :P

Let me know. :) Or if you have a better idea please feel free to come forward and make suggestions.

Care packages

I found this website with TONS of care package ideas. It has pretty much any thing on there that you can think of and then some!
http://www.geocities.com/militarycarepackage/

If you goto the post office they have what are called Flat Rate Boxes. Its pretty much ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that you can fit inside the box goes (as long as it follows the rules) and its only about 7bucks to send. There are 2 different shapes but they are roughly the same size so it depends on what your sending. Did i mention the boxes are free?

This is my goal. I would like to see every family unit (including myself) to send 1 care package a month. Some can be personal and some can be for the rest of the unit, just making sure Rj is getting the Care he needs. I think it'll be a fun challange to try for all of us.

Im starting my 1st package today!

Rjs First Deployment

Rj and i started the day in the worst possible way. NEITHER of us wanted to get up...AT ALL, we knew what was going to happen and we werent looking forward to it. After he went to 1st formation to get a head count he got me outta bed and made me get ready. Oh man, that was the hardest. Im sure you could have cut the tension with a knife. Rj was very hyped and i was stressed and he only made me run home 2-ish times to get stuff (including my mother)

Rj got on the bus at about 11 this morning. He then went to the Alexandria, La airport where they sat in an airplane hanger, played ps2's, shot pool, and ate food til 3pm. Then he got on a GINORMOUS plane (seat pattern is window3-5-3window). Rj flew to Maine where they sat in the airport for about 3 hours. Probly the sweetest thing ever, there were some people taking pictures of all the troops and they posted them on a website and gave all the soliders cards with the web address--added below). Also, as they were getting off the plane other passengers in the airport lined up to shake their hands as the soliders walked by, what respect. After Maine they will be flying to Germany then to Kuwait. After that we dont know when he will be arriving to the place he will be 'stationed' at. Could be 2 days to 2 weeks.

I will put his new address on the blog as soon as i know it. Probly about 2 weeks or so.

Blog Etiquette

I think that we should have a refresher on blog etiquette. As I posted in my comment earlier blogs are and were intended to be a journal or record of events. We need to keep in mind the differences of opinions. If there are personal issues then they should be dealt with in a personal matter. Not due to embarrassment but because that is the example that was set religiously. Our private family issues should remain private, not laundered over the Internet.

We have Jesus Christ to look at as an example as we reconcile our offenses.

1 - Be not easily offended (Hyperlink leads to a wonderful talk by Perry M. Christenson.

2- Reconcile in private: D&C 42:88 : And if thy brother or sister offend thee, thou shalt take him or her between him or her between him or her and thee alone; and if her or she confess though shalt be reconciled.

3- Forgive even as I have. { D&C 98:40, D&C 64:10}

Obviously offenses were given and taken. Let's solve them privately, via face to face, phone or email, not publicly.

Things that we should keep in mind:
- we don't know who is reading this.
- personal information should not be posted
- be sensitive to the information being posted, ask yourself will it offend, hurt, or cause pain to another? Some things are better left un-posted.
- Comments should not be offensive. When being sarcastic signify with a smiley face or mention. Words can be interpreted in many ways other than the intended.

We are a family. Let's act like adults and be a family. Let's try and read these and all posts and comments through the eyes of the author and how it was intended to be understood.

Business Man

I decided to open up my own business in my bay. I call it "The Trust". It has been open for business for about 3 weeks and so far has been extremely profitable. With my business booming I have even hired 3 others to help me out. Iknow what your thinking... that i'm crazy and what kind of business could I possibly have here with my limited privileges? Well let me explain... the first thing I started to sell is cough drops (something we are allowed to have), I buy a bag of the good tasting cough drops for a dollar a bag containing about 30 drops and sell them for a quarter a peice, 750% the cost. I know smart huh? Next I started selling singles, we have a gatorade machine that accepts ones and everyone here loves gatorade but don't have singles, thats where "The Trust" comes in. I sell 3 or 4 ones for a 5$, depending on my supply (currently I have 76 ones and $20 in quarters). I also offer to go get there gatorade for them if they dont feel like putting on their uniforms and walking there for $1.25. These things bring in money but are not the big money makers. With all my appointments I miss chow alot so I am given a pre-packed meal containing pringles, cookies, a mint, fruit, a main course and and side course. I then sell these items off, cookies are $10, pringles $7, the rest is for best offer. I can make $30 a meal (yes I still eat, I get to order out on my detail everyday =D ). The most profitable thing is firegaurd. Firegaurd is a one hour shift at night where you make sure nobody leaves or enters the bay. There are usually 7 shifts a night and 2 people per shift, weekends have 9 shifts per night. I offer the all coveted sleep for a mere $10, I usually make $80 a night doing this. This is why I had to hire people, some shifts are the same time frame and I need some sleep too, however I take a cut off the top. In all my business brings in around $600 a week before paying my employees. I use this money to fund my passes, I splurge and get anything and everything like a PSP with lots of things to go with it costing around$400, it also funds my take out while im on detail at the rec center and my time spent on the internet because I have to pay $7 an hour which adds up very very fast. Now why name it "The Trust"? Well I take credit so I am very trusting and they need to trust me to get up for there fireguard because if I dont they get in a ton of trouble. Eventually I will learn to save the money I make but for right now I'm gunna spend it!

Thoughtful!!!

Blog is still on and always stay on while RJ and Justin is out there! We need to keep up about JUSTIN who is still out there at the Boot Camp! There are only little time he can use computer and calling..he will continue to contact us either by phone or computer in limit time but he not receiving much of the letters like he used to before he broke his foot. Just remember, all the soldiers receiving a lots while Justin there and he only got two since he went back. I don't mean that you all must write him but it just a thoughtful feeling that he can't do much there and not receiving much from us while all other soldiers get so much. He is still out there! I wrote him one and I know Fred is sending things to Justin that he need. There nothing much Justin can do there at the Base so maybe it would be nice that we all continue to write him and send him something that he can do!! It would help him to keep his mind going and time faster as he is pretty much sitting around and can't do nothing! He did go to movies with some soldiers when there free time but most of time they are out on training and Justin are in room sitting with no plan going on but only in Physical Therapy. Trying to think what he need and can be send so hoping Justin can comment or POST and tell us what he would like to have to keep him busy. I am not sure what can be send so hoping things can be send for him to do! He is waiting for the paper works to order him to go home but it take about 4 to 6 months after paper work done! So think about it how hard this is when he can't do much there but letters would cheer him up! I send him poems, pictures and letter so that keep him updated to let him know what news and going on. We don't always hear from Justin so please keep it up with him like it should be before he broke his foot!

Now with RJ..we always will hear from him before he goes to Iraq and he did post it about what going on. Need to keep in touch with him before he leave. RJ and Emily do have their own blog together about what going on for their lives! But this blog here is about the boys duties and do in the ARMY! So it important to keep in touch with RJ and with Justin. I am sure Emily would keep up the blog in this while RJ in Iraq when time comes!

Keep our prayer for both boys to support them!
Again, the new addresses for both boys is on the right side of the blog to send letters and items!!
Also, keep up posting blog and comment! Same for the boys, too!

Many thanks and this is my thoughtful for my boys!!!

New developments in my injury.

So it turns out, when i was injured i developed a condition called Reflex Symathetic Dystraphy (RSD). It is also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrom. Doctors do not know what happens exactly and there is no cure for it but it is treatable. The treatments I am currently recieving include Neurotin in a pill form I am easing my way to 9 pills a day, Apatch called Lidoderm which is an anesthetic as well as blocking nerve signals being sent in that part of my body, and finally an injection in my spine every two weeks. Currently I have a mild case, doesn't feel that way though, and it is in early stages however, if it goes untreated or the treatment doesnt work things could turn badly. Currently it has spread from just where the break was up to my knee, water, tempurature, and touch hurt as well as a sharp stabbing pains randomly. I just wanted to let everyone know my situation, do not worry it could be much worse than it is, I will most likely be completely fine with the treatments as long as I stay on them. If you wish to find out more on RSD you can go to google and type in RSD and all you need to know will come up. Love you all, Justin

A ton of changes

Rj left on tuesday the 15th to report to Ft Polk, LA. He made it their safely and at 11 or 12 at night.

Rj learned that he will be at Fort Polk til Sept 1st. When he comes home from Iraq he will be stationed back at Fort Polk, not in Fort Drum like originally thought. Half his unit will be in Ft. Polk and half will be in Ft. Drum.

I will also be moving to Fort Polk in Aug. to live with Rj and goto school at LSU. He "bought" a house today and has the keys in his hand as we speak. I've seen the floor plan and, oh man, im pretty excited. He will come back to Michigan to move with me.

I dont know all the details and such but I will post more when I do.
